Entertaiment is a word that refers to various forms of recreation and relaxation. Some examples include: watching movies or television, playing video games, reading novels or short stories, sports and exercise, music, dancing, and creating visual art.
The word entertainment derives from the Latin intertenere, a combination of prefix inter (“inside”) and suffix tenere (“hold inside”). The word’s Indo-European root is tense. Interestingly, many of the themes in popular entertainment (murders, backstabbing and other social drama) are based on things that the human mind was evolvd to deeply react to, due to the way it understands and processes information.
